"Sobriety and continuing to grow along spiritual and emotional paths mean that I never have to fear the past or the future because I know now that today is all I really have. Therefore, I have nothing to hide with addictive or compulsive behaviors because I lend my fears to a higher power outside myself so I can accept and enjoy myself and others."

This program was awarded the Golden Apple for Excellence in Dentist Well-Being Activities in 2006 by the American Dental Association (ADA). This is a national award that is only given to one program per year.

Dental Support Group

The Dental Support Group is a support group for dentists that are in recovery from addiction related problems.  It is conducted in the same way as an AA or NA meeting. One person is asked to lead the meeting and speaks for about 30 minutes.  Then the floor is open and others can comment or share their experience, strength and hope.
